The Stoori drop-in centre
To achieve this, the staff aim to form a comprehensive picture of the customer’s situation, to produce the required services, and to increase the functionality of the customer in everyday life. The drop-in centre activities focus on bringing continuity into the life of customers who are marginalized or in danger of becoming marginalized and to provide them with ways to cope in everyday situations. The relief of human suffering and minimization of the adverse effects of substance use are the key areas in customer work. Communal activities enhance customers’ self-respect and experience of being a part of something. The centre offers its customers coffee, porridge, bread, and a warm meal daily, all at a moderate cost. The customers also have the daily paper, a telephone, and a computer with an Internet connection at their disposal. They can also take a shower, do their laundry, and obtain clean clothes from the clothes store room. Stoori is located next to the Itäkeskus Shopping Centre and is open Mon–Wed 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and Thu–Fri 9 a.m.–2 p.m. The Stoori Health Education Services are available during the opening hours. Services: exchange of needles and syringes, HIV and hepatitis testing, hepatitis inoculations, and case management. Contact informationStoori Drop-in Centre Map Anna-Maija Strömberg, Unit Director
