The Rehabilitation Residential Unit for Families provides both rehabilitating substance-abuse care and family care for families in which the parent or parents have a substance-abuse problem as well as care for pregnant substance abusers. In order to start the rehabilitation, a treatment-need assessment is required as well as possible detoxification treatment. The unit also provides rehabilitation for clients receiving replacement therapy. The duration of the rehabilitation period is planned individually in cooperation with the client and the referring party. The duration of the rehabilitation varies from 3 to 18 months.
The separate parts of the rehabilitation, substance-abuse and family rehabilitation, overlap. Substance-abuse rehabilitation focuses on treating the parent’s substance addiction, whereas family rehabilitation focuses on supporting parenthood and the independence of the family as well as learning to live as a family.
