Accommodation services

The Helsinki Deaconess Institute offers accommodation services for people of all ages in various life situations in the metropolitan area.

Accommodation services are offered by the Units of Supported Accommodation Villa Nova and The Women’s Accommodation Unit as well as the Service-Accommodation Units Alppitupa, Lehmustupa, Malmi Home, Osma Home and Sanerva Home.

Auroratalon on suunnitellut arkkitehti Juha Leiviskä.Auroratalo on yksi valtioneuvoston pitkäaikaisasunnottomuuden vähentämisohjelman kohde. Auroratalon paikoista 75 on tehostetusti tuettua asumista ja 50 palveluasumista. Paikoilla vastataan asukkaan yksilölliseen palvelutarpeeseen ja reagoidaan joustavasti tarpeessa tapahtuviin muutoksiin.

Assisted-Living Unit Alppitupa

Admission to Alppitupa is via ASSO, City of Helsinki's Social Department's unit dedicated to assisting the homeless.The assisted-living unit Alppitupa is located in the Helsinki Deaconess Institute block in Kallio. It is home for senior Helsinki residents for whom traditional housing is problematic because of their substance abuse.

Lehmustupa is a place where one can live until the end of one's life.Lehmustupa offers a home to people who are in need of support and care services and who are not easily housed in other assisted-living units or nursing homes.

Accommodation Unit for Women

The women's accommodation unit in the suburb of Kallio is home to about twenty Helsinki women, who had been without a home for a long time.The Accommodation Unit for Women in Kallio is home to 28 long-term homeless women who are Helsinki residents. Each woman lives in her own flat. In addition to their own bedsitters, the women also have access to the common facilities of the accommodation unit. The residents take part in decision making at the weekly communal meetings that cover common issues.

Sanerva Home

Sanerva Home has 79 assisted-living places for persons under 65 years of age. Sanerva Home offers intense assisted accommodation for Helsinki residents with challenging behaviour for whom no other service alternative has been found. Sanerva Home operates in recently renovated facilities in Myllypuro.

Pilke Project

Pilkeporukat / Activity Groups are groups arranged for the elderly, persons with substance-abuse problems, and individuals who find it difficult to leave their home and literally take part in extramural activities.The Pilke groups are small peer-support groups, to which over 60-year-old substance users and people who have become socially excluded because of their life style are looked for, invited and taken. These people are sought for through networking, through connections with social and health services as well as home care and diaconia work. The aim of this work is to aid and give support in the management of everyday life, which ma possibly enable the person to live at home longer.
