Church

The foundation stone of Helsinki Deaconess Institute’s Church was laid in 1896. The architectural drawings for the church were drawn and donated by a baron Karl August Wrede. Bishop Herman Råbergh inaugurated the church in 1898. The first deaconess was installed in this church in September of the same year.

The Church of Helsinki Deaconess Institute has proclaimed the Christian foundations of the Institute’s operation for over a century.
