Helsinki Deaconess Institute MuseumMuseum of the Helsinki Deaconess Institute The Museum of the Helsinki Deaconess Institute exhibit the lives of deaconesses and the history of health care. The majority of the articles on display in the museum has actually been used in the Institute, while some have come from property left behind by the sisters or various donors. Reconstructions of a sister's room, a kitchen and a hospital room are found in the museum. Various articles of daily use, for example instruments used in hospital treatment, glass, and porcelain, have been collected to the cabinets and showcases. In the textile room, there are many kinds of handicraft products as well as models of the sisters' uniforms throughout the history of the Institute. The museum is open from 1 September to 31 May on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p. m., and at other times by arrangement. Group visit reservations in advance. Entrance to the museum is free.
