Voluntary work is for you if you find matters concerning the elderly and others in care close to your heart - you are both willing and able to listen and can devote even a little of your time. Voluntary work requires sociability and a sense of commitment. The work is confidential and workers are bound by a non-disclosure obligation. A good command of Finnish is necessary. The work is available on both a regular and occasional basis. We will need help at the Heponiemi Centre of Silence, for example, and at a number of minor events. Instruction will be given on the work we do and your intended tasks, and you will find yourself part of a very supportive community, with the assistance of professionals from many fields. Supervision will be provided in the case of regular voluntary work, together with a certificate for the work you have done. We also organise seminars and recreational activities for voluntary workers. Further informationKirsi Hiilamo, Hospital Chaplain Johannes Niska-Virta, Community Deacon |
