Prikka – Food rescue project
Prikka- Food rescue project brings together donors of surplus food and food aid distributors in a systemic and effective way. The project is implemented in the city of Oulu and its surrounding municipalities. The project contributes to the goal of reducing food waste, which contributes to mitigating climate change.
The centralised collection of surplus food and its use for food aid creates a platform for a variety of inclusive community activities through diverse volunteering and employment opportunities. Through the project’s activities, food aid will be more accessible and the various community meals and group activities will support the well-being of the target group.
The project
- supports inclusion and well-being of the most vulnerable to combat disadvantage and exclusion also by providing low threshold employment opportunities.
- supports young people, the long-term unemployed and the partially disabled on their way to work.
- creates work experience and jobs in the circular economy and pave the way for career and employment paths in the sector.
