IP Istanbul Protocol training

The training project raises awareness of the use of IP in identifying, investigating and documenting victims of torture.

The Istanbul Protocol: Manual on the Effective Investigation and Documentation of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment is commonly known simply as is the Istanbul Protocol (IP). It is first set of international guidelines for documenting torture and its consequences. The IP guides the entire investigation process. But the Manual it is poorly known and not used as required by law.

IP Istanbul Protocol training project raises awareness

Through training, the Centre for Psychotraumatology is raising awareness among health professionals, asylum seekers’ residence permit process facilitators and policymakers about the use of the IP in identifying, investigating and documenting victims of torture. The project runs from 1 April 2023 to 31 December 2024.
